What trust & safety means on Sweeppa
Sweeppa is a two-sided marketplace platform — the technology and trust layer that connects homeowners and businesses with independent cleaning professionals. We don't employ cleaners or send our own crews. Instead, we build the safeguards that make hiring an independent provider feel simple and secure: how they're vetted, how you pay, how you communicate, and how issues are handled.
Sweeppa — the platform
We verify and approve providers, power secure booking and payment, keep messaging private, and give you clear ways to raise a concern. These are platform-level protections — not promises made by any individual cleaner.
Providers — independent professionals
Cleaners on Sweeppa are self-employed independent contractors who run their own businesses, set their own schedules and prices, and do the cleaning themselves. They agree to professional standards before taking work. Learn more in our Terms of Service.
How providers are vetted and approved
Getting onto the Sweeppa marketplace is a multi-step process. Identity verification and background screening are handled through our screening partner, Vetty, where required and enabled — and a Sweeppa admin has the final say before anyone can take a booking.
- Step 1
Application
Every provider applies with their name, a verified email and phone number, and their business details. Companies provide their registered business name and EIN. Applicants attest they are authorized to work in the United States.
- Step 2
Identity verification
Before an account can be approved, the applicant's identity is verified through our screening partner, Vetty, which captures and checks their government ID as part of the process.
- Step 3
Background screening
Providers complete background screening through Vetty, where required and enabled. Only a clear result clears this step; anything else is routed to our team for manual review, with the applicant given notice and the right to dispute their report.
- Step 4
Admin approval
A Sweeppa admin makes the final call. A provider cannot claim or be assigned any booking until their account is approved — and approval also requires a set service area with open capacity and an account in good standing. Screening status is always re-checked from the source, never taken on trust.
Approval standards are platform-level and can evolve. In limited cases an admin may approve an account through a documented, audited override, so the specific checks a provider completes can vary with local requirements.
Pay securely, only through the platform
Every booking is paid in-app through Stripe, our payment processor. Because money moves on-platform, there's no cash to hand over and a clear record for every job.
- Your card stays with Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe. Sweeppa never stores your full card number.
- Providers are paid after the job. A provider's earnings are held and released only once your cleaning is complete and you've confirmed it, with weekly payouts through Stripe.
- No cash, 100% of tips to your provider. We don't accept cash, checks, or off-platform transfers. If you choose to tip, your provider keeps all of it — Sweeppa takes no cut.

In-app chat hides contact details and blocks phone numbers, and every conversation is subject to moderation. Repeated attempts to push contact off-platform lead to warnings, temporary pauses, and, ultimately, chat bans.
Your contact details stay yours
Coordinating a clean shouldn't mean giving out your personal number. Sweeppa keeps communication on-platform so your details stay private and support can step in if something goes wrong.
- Contact info is protected. Phone numbers are blocked and personal contact details are hidden from the other party in chat.
- Chat is time-boxed. Messaging opens shortly before your appointment and closes once the job is complete.
- Conversations are monitored. Messages run through moderation, and off-platform solicitation is flagged for our team to review.
Ratings that come from real, completed bookings
A rating only means something if it comes from someone who actually had the service done. On Sweeppa, reviews are tied to completed bookings — so what you read reflects real work.
Completed bookings only
Only the customer on a booking can review its provider, and only after the job is marked complete.
One review per booking
Each completed booking gets a single review, and it can't be edited after it's submitted.
Low ratings get attention
A low rating opens an issue for our team to look into, so problems don't just disappear.
Conduct, quality, and enforcement
Approval is the start, not the finish. Providers agree to a code of conduct and are held to ongoing quality and reliability standards for as long as they're on the platform.
We monitor the signals that matter
Ratings, on-time arrival, job completion, cancellations, and confirmed no-shows all feed a provider's quality and reliability standing. Consistent, dependable work keeps a provider in good standing.
Falling short has consequences
Enforcement is graduated: warnings, closer review, and temporary pauses or suspension from new jobs. Admins can also suspend, block, or deactivate an account. Deactivation preserves records rather than erasing history, and providers can contest penalties.
Safe access starts with a few simple steps
Trust runs both ways. A little preparation keeps your home secure and helps your provider deliver their best work — whether or not you're there during the visit.
- Leave clear, written access instructions — a door code, lockbox, or where to meet — so your provider can start on time.
- Secure cash, jewelry, medications, and other valuables before the visit.
- Put away or crate pets, and flag anything in the home that needs special care.
- Keep messages, scheduling, and payment on the Sweeppa platform, where they're protected and support can help.
- Give an accurate description of the space and any focus areas so the right provider and time are matched.
- Report anything that doesn't feel right promptly, and treat your provider with the same respect they show your home.
Reporting a concern — and what happens next
Most cleanings go smoothly, but if a safety, service, damage, or conduct issue comes up, there's a clear way to raise it — and a real process behind it.
How to report
- Open a support request from the Help section for anything about a booking, payment, service, or your account.
- Use "Report an issue" on the booking to flag damage, conduct, a no-show, or a billing problem — with photos where it helps.
- If a provider doesn't arrive, the booking has a dedicated no-show report once the arrival window has passed.
What happens next
- Our support team reviews every report and tracks it through clear statuses from open to resolved.
- We keep you updated by email and in the app as the review moves forward.
- Depending on the situation, a resolution may include a re-clean, a credit, or a refund. We review each case on its facts and can't promise a specific outcome in advance.
